Dr Steve Brierley

Dr Steve Brierley is a senior research fellow at the university of Cambridge where he is a member of the Quantum Information and Foundations group.

Steve’s research is about the theory of quantum systems, architectures for quantum computers and quantum algorithms. He has discovered powerful new algorithms to run on a quantum computer (once one is built!) and developed a model of distributed quantum computing that allows a large scale device to be built from a network of smaller parts.

A mathematician at heart, Steve also works on solving computational problems on classical computers and holds a position at the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical research where he applies cutting edge research to challenging real world problems.
